John Furey is the founder of Advisor Growth Strategies (AGS), a consulting firm providing customized practice management solutions for independent advisory firms and financial advisors in transition. John is also the Managing Member of aRIA (the Alliance for RIAs), a think tank of seven leading independent advisory firms. John has a passion for making a difference in the industry and helping owners optimize their results for their clients and teams.
Prior to founding AGS, John was managing director of strategic business development for Schwab Advisor Services™, where he was responsible for recruiting new advisors and developing Schwab’s related sales and marketing capabilities. John has authored numerous research reports, white papers, and articles, and has been quoted in industry and national publications. Investment Advisor magazine recognized him as one of the most influential people in financial services through its “IA25” list. John has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics from the State University of New York and a master of business administration degree from Arizona State University.
John frequently travels to meet with clients and speak at industry events. In the office, John spends his time collaborating with the brightest in the industry to improve services to financial advisors and doing what he really loves – helping owners advance their financial firms.
Although John and AGS are based in Arizona, he is originally from New York. He loves to travel with his wife, Julie, and his two sons. John’s personal passions include watching his sons play competitive soccer, playing golf when time permits, and tinkering with his favorite alternative investment – a wine collection. John plays an active role with the Men’s Art Council of Phoenix, Arizona State University Athletics, and various industry and local organizations.
